GILBERT SUNIO, M.D.

Board-certified internal medicine physician Dr. Gilbert Sunio, the founder of Sunmed Health and Weight Management, offers comprehensive primary care services, personalized weight loss solutions, men’s health services, and nonsurgical body contouring assistance.
Dr. Sunio has extensive training in all aspects of internal medicine, with an emphasis on preventive medicine. He received his internal medicine education at the University of Illinois in Chicago, and he has extensive training in weight loss management and men’s health.
Combining years of experience with education and compassion, Dr. Sunio maximizes patient satisfaction for superior results. He focuses on all aspects of disease prevention to help every patient look and feel their best.
All of Dr. Sunio’s patients receive personalized attention, are treated like family in a relaxed and safe environment, and reap the benefits of long-term weight management support. Dr. Sunio’s body contouring program is designed to complement weight loss for younger, healthier-looking skin.
Dr. Sunio has been practicing at his Visalia facility since 2001, and when he’s not treating patients, he enjoys photography, hiking, running, traveling, and spending time with his family.
OMAR EDUARDO MEJIA, NP-C
Nurse Practitioner
Omar Eduardo Mejía is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner; He has a background in public health and more than 10 years of medical experience in prehospital medicine, critical care medicine, inpatient cardiology, palliative medicine, and most recently general/trauma surgery.
His interests include all aspects of internal medicine with the inclusion of preventive medicine, health literacy, health education, and telemedicine. Eduardo’s goal with every patient is to listen to their concerns and to work together to find a solution to maximize the patient's health and quality of life.
Born in Jalisco, Mexico, and moving to the United States as a teenager, Eduardo is fluent in Spanish as well as in Portuguese.
In his spare time he enjoys reading, watching documentaries, coffee shops, traveling, learning new things, and more than anything spending time with his two children and wife.
Michele Millan-Patterson, NP-C
Nurse Practitioner
Michele Millan-Patterson is a native of Lindsay, CA.
She returned to the Valley upon completion of her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work from California State University, Fresno. Her first career as a Social Worker was in direct client care and in the development of programs to address the needs of the community.
Michele has been involved in the development of educational programs, Latino mental health programs, and hospital based programs. In the process of addressing the needs of underserved populations through working with the local hospital districts, Michele became impassioned with patient care. Upon completion of this final project, she returned to academia. Michele attended College of the Sequoias for training as a Registered Nurse. Her nursing experience includes the intensive care unit (ICU), cardiac ICU, the emergency department and medical surgical nursing.
She is a seasoned leader through her years as a clinic administrator but moved toward her goals, returning as a Nurse Practitioner.
As a Care Provider, Michele will embrace her patient population and the team she works with, with a high level of energy, empathy and drive. She has long striven to best serve her community so returning to patient care at this level is a dream come true.
"The most rewarding part of this line of work is making a difference in somebody's life. Though our lives are touched by many, there are few that leave an everlasting impact. It is my personal goal to leave a forever imprint in the life of each of my patients.
For fun, Michele loves to spend time with her husband and two sons. They enjoy traveling and exploring other states. Her personal hobbies include fitness (weight lifting), Bible study, reading, sewing, gardening, and cooking.
Valerie Corvera, NP
Nurse Practitioner
Valerie Corvera, NP, became a registered nurse in 2014 after receiving her Associates Degree in Nursing from Porterville Community College. She received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing in 2015. She received her Master of Science in Nursing with the specialty Family Nurse Practitioner from Walden University in 2021. She completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in 2023 from Walden University. Her nursing experience consists of critical care. She is passionate about providing high quality individualized care to her patients and strives to empower her patients by providing education and support to help assist them in making the best health decisions to meet their personal health maintenance goals.
